Tsuru Kamon M9

The Crane (Tsuru) is symbolic of longevity and fidelity, as well as having the ability to navigate between heaven and earth. In the Asian culture it is said that the crane lives one thousand years. These menuki illustrate the “dancing crane” with wings outstretched. This design was popular in Edo period tsubas, and continues to be with contemporary works as well. It is interesting to note that the central crane’s head postion between the pair, define the omote (public) and ura (private) sides for position on the tsuka. Nice mountable set that will accommodate many other themes and styles of fittings.
